Chai Kadé
Tea. Talks. Together.

The story

Chai is the drink people gather around. Kadé is the spot they gather at.

Put them together and the name tells you the concept, the product, the ritual, and the reason people come.

Chai Kadé combines two ideas that need no explanation in Sri Lanka. Chai is the drink people gather around. Kadé is the neighbourhood spot people gather at.

The accent on the é gives it a small lift. Modern, considered, just a touch above ordinary. The logo locks in that feeling with a premium serif typeface and the tea leaf mark sitting above the letterforms.

Tea. Talks. Together.

Not a café, not a restaurant. Somewhere between a neighbourhood joint and a street food spot, but nicer than both.

The focus is on three things done exceptionally well: fresh drinks from scratch, honest food at accessible prices, and a space where people actually want to linger. Everything else supports those three things.

The space

Earthy materials. Plants everywhere. String lights at night.

The kind of place that photographs itself without being asked to.

The outdoor space is the main event.

Chairs and tables on the pavement outside. Non-negotiable. This is what separates Chai Kadé from every other food spot in the area.

String lights at night.

Warm bulbs above the pavement. Dusk is the magic hour at the kadé.

Terracotta ceramics.

Reusable ceramic cups for dine-in. Branded kraft paper for takeaway.

Three words
